Pamela Dooley is a Northern Ireland pro choice campaigner, a member of staff at the Unison Northern Ireland Region office, and a regular churchgoer.

She is also - nice, obvious statement - a woman.

She says she and other pro choice campaigners 'get a mixed response,' when they run their information stalls and campaigning days.

'You always get the anti. You get quite a lot of the anti - quite a lot of people who are connected to the church. They use the church as a reason.

'Mainly, the anti are male. This is the one issue in Northern Ireland that the politicians come together on - and it’s the men politicians who come together to keep the women down.'

'It's an equality issue. We have been waiting for this since 1967 [when the Abortion Act came into law in England).

'About 80% of our union members in Northern Ireland are women. We make that out to be 30,000 women who are suffering disadvantage because of not having this law.'
